This year Westfriesland will again host a unique experience for young and old.
During the West Frisian water weeks from 27 July until 10 August, each beautiful village or historical town will host a weekend filled with water themed events.
For centuries, a trading spirit has pushed the inhabitants of Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Medemblik onto the water, but water also played an important role in the smaller surrounding villages of Stede Broec, Drechterland and Opmeer. During the West Frisian water weeks, each weekend you’ll be invited by a different municipality to discover Westfriesland on, in and along the water. Are you ready for the adventure?
Enjoy the North Holland landscape and taste the best local produce. Listen to the most beautiful concerts from a boat, scour the nautical market in Hoorn and don’t forget to play with the water. Or have dinner on the waterside and see one of many plays. Naturally, there are also plenty of boats to admire from both inside and out.
The West Frisian water weeks are an initiative of West Frisian municipalities
Enkhuizen, Opmeer, Medemblik, Stede Broec, Drechterland, Hoorn and Koggenland. Each municipality has a unique program for young and old, families and singles, young adults and everybody who enjoys the water. Most of the activities are free of charge.
